Fast-moving consumer goods

Within the non-durables market is the fast-moving consumer goods segment, commonly known as FMCG. This is a very specific type of market sector as it includes consumer non-durables that sell through quickly and are replaced frequently by consumers. It is also the most valuable market, taking 21.3% of UK household spending.

  • You can see in this chart that UK Grocery Market that is largely made up of FMCG products, was worth £174.5 billion in 2014.
  • It accounts for 54.5p out of every £1 we spend, which makes it the largest market in the UK.
